Fatal Accidents Act (XIII of 1991)

Section 1-If the act by which the death is caused is of such a tortious nature that if the deceased would have been alive, he would have been entitled to recover damages in torts from the wrong doer then the dependants would in the case of his death be able to maintain the action. They do not mean that the wife, husband, the parent or child, if any, of the deceased is restricted to claiming only such damages or such loss to which the deceased himself would have been entitled if he had been alive.
